I am a lucky girl.
I grew up in the Blue Ridge mountains, running around acres of backyard woods. We didn’t have cable, and didn’t always have a working television set, so my sister and I found ways to entertain ourselves, usually at the expense of our brother.
I moved to Atlanta to go to Agnes Scott College, and am now firmly planted in the suburbs – the husband, the kids, the dog, the mortgage, the whole nine yards. There is something to be said for having immediate access to museums, concerts, and 24-hour Krispy Kreme locations, but well into my 30s, I still get homesick for the mountains.
